PR-08-25 -- Response Period Set In Office Of Public Counsel Request To Open Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- AUGUST 13, 2007

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has set August 31, 2007, as the deadline for those entities wishing to respond to a motion filed by the Office of the Public Counsel to open a case investigating whether ratepayers are being held harmless from the Taum Sauk incident.

In a recently completed Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE electric rate case, the Commission stated in its order that it would direct the PSC Staff to investigate whether ratepayers are being held harmless from the Taum Sauk incident especially with regard to lost regulatory capacity sales.

In its motion, the Office of the Public Counsel states the purpose of the case would be different in scope and purpose than the Commission’s ongoing investigation case concerning Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE’s operation and management of the Taum Sauk Pumped Storage Project. Hearings in that case continued this week.
