The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- JUNE 19, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Missouri Gas Utility, Inc. (MGU) to expand its current service area in order to provide natural gas service in Ridgeway, Missouri.
On June 5, 2008, the PSC staff filed its recommendation in the case. Staff stated that granting the application would be in the public interest because: 1) MGU is willing and able to serve the new area under current tariff provisions; 2) MGU’s service to the new customers would not jeopardize MGU’s current customers; 3) no intervenors objected; 4) MGU has obtained the needed franchise from Ridgeway, Missouri, and 5) MGU has the supply and capacity to accommodate the additional loads as a result of this addition.
Based upon a review of the evidence in this case, the commission has determined the proposed service is in the public interest and the application should be approved.
MGU provides natural gas service to approximately 1,000 customers in the communities of Hamilton, Gallatin, Jameson and Coffey in Caldwell and Daviess counties.
