The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold formal evidentiary hearings in mid-March in a natural gas rate case filed by Missouri Gas Utility, Inc. The natural gas company is seeking a rate increase of approximately $443,100. According to its filing, Missouri Gas Utility, Inc. is proposing an overall increase of approximately 28.4%.
Missouri Gas Utility, Inc. serves approximately 900 natural gas customers in the communities of Hamilton, Gallatin, Jameson and Coffey in Caldwell and Daviess Counties.
Applications to intervene and participate in this rate case must be filed on or before September 26, 2007, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Hearings in the rate request are scheduled to begin on March 17, 2008, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, in Jefferson City. Hearings are scheduled through March 21 and from March 24 to March 28, if necessary.
