The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing in Republic on May 15, 2008 to receive customer comment on a water rate case filed by Aqua Missouri, Inc. (Aqua Missouri). The hearing schedule is set out below.

Aqua Missouri is seeking to change its water and sewer rates for all of its 11 service areas in Cole, Callaway, Pettis, Greene, Benton, Taney, Christian, Morgan, Stone and Barry counties.
Aqua Missouri is seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $24,000 in its Rankin Acres service area and by approximately $28,400 in its Spring Valley service area.
A current and proposed monthly bill for a residential customer using approximately 5,000 gallons of water in the company’s Rankin Acres and Spring Valley service areas appears below.
Rankin Acres: Monthly Bill at Current Rates: $24.73; Proposed Rates: $46.96
Spring Valley: Monthly Bill at Current Rates: $34.67; Proposed Rates:$56.69
Aqua Missouri provides water service to approximately 90 customers in its Rankin Acres service area in Greene County near Republic; and approximately 120 water customers its Spring Valley service area in Christian County near Ozark.
