The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- APRIL 22, 2008

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing in Reeds Spring on May 13, 2008 to receive customer comment on a water rate case filed by Aqua Missouri, Inc. (Aqua Missouri).  The hearing schedule is set out below.

* The local public hearing will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm or until all those wishing to testify have been given an opportunity to do so, whichever is sooner. 

 

This local public hearing will be held in a building that meets accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.  If a customer needs additional accommodations to participate in this hearing, please call the Public Service Commission’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 prior to the hearing.

Aqua Missouri is seeking to change its water and sewer rates for all of its 11 service areas in Cole, Callaway, Pettis, Greene, Benton, Taney, Christian, Morgan, Stone and Barry counties.

Aqua Missouri is seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $35,700 in its LTA service area, by approximately $67,170 in its Riverside Estates service area and by approximately $28,430 in its Spring Valley service area.

A current and proposed monthly bill for a residential customer using approximately 5,000 gallons of water in the company’s LTA, Riverside Estates and Spring Valley service areas appears below.

Aqua Missouri provides water service to approximately 100 customers in its LTA service area in Taney County near Branson; approximately 250 customers in its Riverside Estates service area in Taney County near Branson; and approximately 120 water customers in its Spring Valley service area in Christian County near Ozark.
