The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement between the Office of the Public Counsel, the staff of the Public Service Commission and Spokane Highland Water Company, which authorizes the company to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $2,807. The rate change will take effect on May 7, 2008.
This represents the first general rate increase for Spokane Highland Water Company since December 1999.
On November 14, 2007, Spokane Highland Water Company submitted a request with the Public Service Commission seeking to increase its annual water operating revenues by approximately $10,000. Increases in utility plant investments as well as increases in operation and maintenance expenses were some of the reasons why the company sought the rate increase in its November 2007 filing.
The current monthly water bill for a customer using 6,000 gallons of water a month and the monthly water bill for that same customer as a result of the agreement approved in this case appears below:
