The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, steam, natural gas, water and sewer and telephone companies. Its mission is to ensure Missouri consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service while allowing those utility companies under our jurisdiction an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The PSC also regulates manufacturers and retail dealers who sell new and used manufactured homes and modular units. The commission was established in 1913. The PSC is comprised of five commissioners, who are appointed by the governor.

PR-08-30 -- PSC Approves Agreement Reached In S.K. & M Water and Sewer Company Rate Cases
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- AUGUST 22, 2007
JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement between the Office of the Public Counsel, the Public Service Commission Staff and S. K. & M. Water and Sewer Company, which authorizes the company to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $9,398 and annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $6,566. The rate change will take effect on September 1, 2007.
On October 19, 2006, S. K. & M. Water and Sewer Company submitted requests for increases in its water and sewer operating revenues with the Missouri Public Service Commission. The Company sought to increase its annual water operating revenues by approximately $50,820 and its annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $36,875.
Under the terms of the agreement, S. K. & M. Water and Sewer Company will:

refund, with interest, water customer deposits improperly held;

give a monthly-billed customer at least 21 days and a quarterly-billed customer at least 16 days from the rendering of a bill to pay the utility charges, unless a customer has selected a preferred payment date in accordance with the utility’s preferred payment date plan;

clearly note on customer bills if no meter reading has been obtained and the bill is based on estimated usage;

leave notice with the customer when water service is disconnected; and
-
maintain a log of customer complaints.

S. K. & M. Water and Sewer Company serves approximately 280 residential water customers and 160 residential sewer customers in Perry County.
